Mountain Gorillas
The Virunga Volcanoes region straddling the border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda is home to an estimated 680 mountain gorillas, and one of only two places in the world where these animals live in the wild. Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda allows visitors to get up close and personal with one of four habituated gorilla families.
